About SandTris

SandTris is Tetris with sand physics — the blocks crumble into colored sand the moment they land.

Instead of clearing full rows, you clear sand by connecting one color all the way from the left wall to the right wall.

How to Play SandTris

Tetris pieces fall like normal, but the moment one lands it dissolves into a pile of colored sand that flows and settles like the real thing. There are no rows to fill. Instead, you clear sand by connecting a single color all the way from the left wall to the right wall — when it links up, the whole connected blob flashes and disappears.

Each clear counts as a line, and every ten lines the level goes up and the pieces fall faster. Piling sand up to the top ends the run. Your score is the amount of sand you clear, plus a little for every row you soft-drop through.

Controls

Thoughts

This one is weirdly satisfying. Watching the sand pour and settle is half the fun, and clears feel way more earned than in normal Tetris.

It looks like regular Tetris but plays totally differently, so don't be surprised when your Tetris instincts betray you.

Tips & Strategies

  1. Keep the pile low and flat — tall towers mix the colors together and make it way harder to bridge across.
  2. Same-color pieces are your friends: drop them next to matching sand so it merges into one big connected blob.
  3. Think in colors, not shapes. A piece's shape stops mattering the second it lands — where its color pours matters.
  4. Build one color along the bottom as a base, then bridge it to the other wall in a single go.
  5. Sand flows downhill. Drop a piece on a slope and its color spreads sideways for free.

SandTris FAQ

How do you clear sand in SandTris?

Connect one color from the left wall to the right wall. As soon as a single unbroken path of that color spans the board, the whole connected blob clears. Rows don't matter — only the color connection does.

How is SandTris scored?

You get a point for every grain of sand you clear, so a big wide blob is worth far more than a thin one. Soft-dropping also adds one point per row. Lines cleared drive the level, and the level drives the fall speed.

Why did my sand mix into a mess?

Because it's sand. Drop pieces onto a tall, uneven pile and the colors slide and mingle. Keep the surface flat and place pieces so their color lands next to the same color.

Is SandTris the same as Tetris?

It looks like it and uses the same pieces, but it plays completely differently. Shapes stop mattering when they land; colors and how they flow are the whole game.
